Ford Repair: Ford F150 Ignition key lock cylinder, slide hammer, lock cylinder

Question
The keys for my 1989 Ford F150 have disappeared!
I have removed the steering wheel but still cannot get old ignition lock cylinder out for replacement. Do I need to remove the entire electrical (cruise, horn, buzzer) to access the locking mechanism?

Answer
Removing the cylinder is very easy, WITH THE KEY!
Without the key you will have to pretty much destroy the the lock cylinder, as it is held in by a pin that will not release without the key in the on position. I have a tool at work that I can drive into the cylinder and force it, but that doesn't help you at all. I have also used a slide hammer with a screw-in bit to remove cylinders that won't turn.
