Ford Repair: 98 windstar electrical, battery connections, radio power

Question
tried to start 98 windstar 3.0 and it almost started then power to ignition died, constant clicking noise from one of the relays. Now there is no power instrument panel except for radio, power goes to ignition switch but nothing happens. Battery is good, alternator is new. This happened before after MLP sensor was not engaging trans past second gear, then sensor shorted out and power was lost as above. Replaced sensor and everything was fine. Don't have a scan tool but could this be same issue or possibly other sensor shorting out? If so, how do I test sensors for short or malfunction?

Answer
Linc,

I need a few more specifics about this problem.  First of all, when you try to crank the engine over, does your dash lights come on indicating you have battery power, but the starter won't crank?  I would carefully check your battery connections. It sounds as though you get power until a heavy load (i.e. starter) is applied then you loose the connection.
