Ford Repair: 91 Lincoln town car high mount brake light, lincoln town car, luggage compartment

Question
Hi,

My top brake light (in the cabin between the rear speakers) will not turn on in my 91 towncar. The tail brake lights and hazard lights work fine. I changed the
bulbs and did a visual check of all the fuses, and they look fine. What could it be?

Any help you can give would be appreciated!

Thanks,
David

Answer
The high stoplights are powered by the same fuse as the other brake lights. The wire is light green in color. If yoiu have a 12V testlight check for power at the bulb connectors, while someone pushes the brake pedal. If you have voltage there, check the ground connection, which is in the luggage compartment, left side above the wheelwell.

These bulbn sockets melt sometimes and distort, this is another possibility causing no contact between the bnu;lb and the socket.
