Ford Repair: Keyless Enrty Question, keyless entry systems, keyless entry system

Question
I have a 98 Ford Taurus and have a few questions about the keyless entry system...Should there be (2) keys or only (1) for that year...Mainly for the doors and trunk...The square key only works for the ignition but fits in the trunk and doors but doesn't open them...Also, I was wondering where I can pruchase a new keyless remote control unit and how much approx it will cost?  Thanks

What you're describing sounds like a valet key.  It fits the ignition so you can start and drive the car, but won't fit things like the trunk so if the car is out of your posetion people can't screw around and steal your stuff.  Anytime you get a car it should come with at least two keys...a master key and a valet key, two master keys, or sometimes 2 masters and a valet key.  The only place that will deal with keyless entry systems (unless it's an aftermarket system) is a dealership.  They should be able to make new remotes for you.  As to how much it will cost, I haven't a clue.  I've never worked for a dealership so I've never done that kind of work before.  Then again, it's a dealership so I can't imagine it'll be real cheap.  Hope this helps.
