Question
Hi Steve I have a 1966 Shelby Mustang Clone
With TRY-Y header's and a four speed trans.
When my stock starter get's hot the car is hard to start , I belive It's too close to the header
I found a High Torque Mini Started on E-BAY
Thay said it fit's 64 to 73 mustang's also 302
and 5 liter car's ? Which is all probely true ?
BUT my problem Is on older mustang's the slenoid
Is mounted on fender well, This one seem's to be mounted on the mini starter It's self ?
Is there a spicial cable or something to make this starter work on my car, or can I make up something to make it work ?  I realy do like and need a better starting system ? Is this possiable , with out tearing the car up ?
Thank you STEVE ,  "YOU KNOW MY PROBLEM"
Any help for me ? THANK'S AGAIN  GENE

Well...the good news is that 302 motors didn't change much at all from when they were introduced in '67 until they went away in '95.  Same goes for the 5.0L which is just a 302 with some very minor changes.  Having the solenoid mounted on the starter would be incredibly odd for a Ford.  That's generally a Chevy design.  It's possible that the Ebay auction just has a generic pic of that model of starter and it happens to be for a Chevy.  I'd ask the seller to make sure before committing to it.  Hope this helps.
