Ford Repair: 1982 Mustang GLX, auto tranny, difficulty scale

Hi Steve, I am looking at getting a project car for my son "1982 Mustang GLX". It has a 4.2L motor w/ automatic. Would a 5.0L/302 drop right in or would it require major mods. The goal is to stroke a 5.0/302 to 347ci. w/373 geared posi rearend, pull the auto tranny and drop in a T-5 but not sure if that will work? Any idea's would be more than apreciated.

  It's a pretty simple swap.  Obviously you'll need a 5.0L motor along with some suspension parts and some wiring changes...but it's nothing that can't be done in a weekend or two.  It won't require any major mods, but it's not quite as easy as just dropping the new motor in and going.  On a 1-10 difficulty scale, I'd say it's probably a 4 or 5 depending on your mechanical know-how.  Hope this helps.
