Ford Repair: Ford Cleveland Motor, stud girdle, ford cleveland

Question
Sir,
I'm wanting to build a 600 hp Cleveland motor using Cylinder Head Innovation 3V heads. My question is can a stock Cleveland block handle that power? If not, any ideas on where to find an aftermarket block? Thank you.

Answer
Jason-

I'd say at 600hp you're right at the stock block limit.  There aren't any true Cleveland aftermarket replacement blocks that I can think of, but some of Ford's high dollar racing blocks will accept Cleveland-spec internals.  I would stick with the stock block and try to strengthen it by using a main stud girdle or maybe even some block filler.  Hope this helps.
