Ford Repair: differnce between 302 engine blocks, efi engine, roller cam

i have a 1987 efi engine that i had tore down and the block is bad.  ? is could i use a 1980  short block and put the efi equipment on it?

  The good news for you is that 302 blocks really haven't changed much since they were introduced in the 60's.  In fact, for all practical purposes, they haven't changed at all.  There are a few minor differences between roller cam and non-roller cam blocks, and 5.0L blocks are slightly different from regular 302 blocks but for the most part it's all the same stuff.  So yeah...everything should be interchangeable.  Hope this helps.
