Ford Repair: Alternator Charging, charge indicator, fuses

Question
I recently had a problem with my mustang 302 alternator charging the battery. I was told in another post that if the fuse to the charge indicator, or the bulb, or the wire to the indicator is bad, the alternator will not charge. I cut the wire to the charge indicator under the hood and hooked it up to a 12v source that only supplies voltage when the ignition switch is on and the alternator started charging my battery. Besides the obvious problem of not having a working charge indicator in the car, will this setup create any other problems?

Answer
I dont think it will cause any problems,, but then again it might,, its really hard to say.. To be honest with you, I wouldnt have started to cut this and that, most wires, and fuses are their for a purpose.. See how it goes,, and let me know.. Thanks...
