Ford Repair: speed sensor, exhaust pipes, exhuast

Question
i can't get the speed sensor to come out of it position on the transmission.hold down bolt has been removed and soaked with penetraining oil but still holding tight from comeing free.any ideas on how to get it free without breaking it? 1996 ford tarus, reaching over the top of engine to get to it by the exhaust pipe

Answer
The sealing o-ring on the sensor is probably stuck to the transmission. Rotating the sensor will usually break it free. You may damage the sensor doing this, but other than pulling off the exhaust pipes and doing it from underneath I know of no other advise to give you. Is there a shield over the sensor? Most of these have a sheetmetal heat shield to protect the sensor from the exhuast.
