Follow up,,Thanks for the response. Is there any way to check the actuator before looking into the blend door...............Thanks, Glenn

All I get is extreemly hot air no matter where I place the temp control selector, even on the "vent" setting. In the winter when it's zero outside I have to crack a window because the heat is so intense. When I have the air conditioning running (which blows nothing but the hottest air)and shut the truck off, I hear a hissing from under the hood. This problem started gradully then went all at once. I replaced the temp cold to hot re-stat selector and nothing changed.
With the engine running, I feel the pressure lines for the air conditioner under the hood and they are very cold. I'm lost.............Glenn
Answer -
The concern with all heat is most likely due to a broken blend door, and/or the actuator that controls the door. Very common on Fords. If it needs the actuator that is not bad to replace, if it needs the door the entire instrument panel has to come out.

As far as the AC, the hissing noise is normal after running the AC and then turning it off. The pressures stabilizing is what makes the noise. One AC pipe should be hot, one cold or cool, with the AC on.

Answer
Yes, you can see the actuator movement; first remove the trim in the center of the dash, just above the floor, this piece hides the area you need to see. With a flashlight you may be able to bend down and look in that area to see if the actuator shaft is moving when you operate the temp knob. May need a mirror if you can't get in the right position. The actuator is square, plastic, with one connector.
