QuestionDear Dennis,
Due to an unfortunate accident, I have to replace the A/C condensor in my 1983 F-100 (300 cid 6,built 12-82). I'm trying to locate the correct parts, one site has a drier available, but they say fits only those built after 4-83. Should I use one for an 82? I can't find a definitive answer.
I'm going to change the refrigerant, do I need to change the pressure switch and/or orfice/capillary?
Thanks!
Bob Furmanak
AnswerIt would be a good idea to inspect the orifice before charging the system. They don't normally fail but can become plugged with debris. The drier is a good idea.
Can't help you with the parts; have you tried NAPA or a local A/C shop? They might be able to build you one if
nothing else.
Sorry I can't be more help, I fix 'em, I don't work in parts. I know your feeling about older stuff, it is getting rarer, even 1983. You might try searching for Obsolete Ford parts, I know there are many suppliers out there that have stcok from closed dealers and such.
Try this website: http://www.partsvoice.com/partsvoice/index.cgi
Go to the find parts section, put in your zip code and country, then you can find what you need. I put in my zip and your vehicle, found 6 driers.
