Ford Repair: Front windshield washer wont pump, rear windshield wiper, ford explorer eddie bauer

Question
I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer w/front and rear windshield wiper/washers. This model year shares the same washer fluid tank and pump for the front and rear. My problem is the unit works fine for the rear windhshield, but will not operate for the front windshield. I have tested the pump, and the multifunction switch (which I actually replaced before I realized that wasn't the problem. I am at a loss as to where to go from here. The switch for the rear wiper/washer is located just to the right of the radio as you are facing it. Also, if you attempt to operate the rear washer while holding in the multifunction switch for the front washer, the rear will not operate. If you are operating the rear washer and attempt to operate the multifunction switch for the front washer, the rear will stop working. Please respond ASAP as my wife is driving me crazy not being able to clean her windshield. Thanks!

Answer
How did you test the pump? Is the front pump getting voltage and a good ground? Sometimes the lines get plugged up. Try blowing out the nozzles and lines with compressed air. Or can you hear the pump run but nothing coming out?

I have seen many of these with a hose off around the fender, but if that is the case you should see fluid dripping somewhere.

The wiper system goes through the GEM module. You should be able to get codes from that module, that will give us an idea of the problem. Could be an  open circuit or problem with the GEM itself
