I have a 84 Ford F-150 and it currently has a 300 I6 and a C5 trans.  I was wanting to take out the 300 cause its just so old and i was going to make it into a street truck.  Would you reccomend staying with the C5 or switching to a C4.  And another question is will a 302 Hook up to a C5 transmission with out to much modification.  And how much more work would it be to put a C4 and a 302 in the truck.  Thanks

Chris-

To my knowledge, the C5 won't work with a 302.  The production of the C5 is so limited anyway that you'd probably be better off with a C4 in the long run.  As for whether or not it will fit in the truck, sure it will.  It will take some modification, but nothing that can't be had from a junkyard.  For the swap of a 302/C4 in place of the 300/C5 on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 4 or 5.  Not ridiculously simple, but nothing too complex proovided you've got the right tools and a little extra time on your hands.  Hope this helps.

What other part will i be needing in order to do the swap.

Answer
Chris-

Aside from the motor and transmission, you'll need some front suspension parts like an engine brace (also called a K-member...and preferably from another '84 F-150 that had a factory 302), things like ignition, and the factory fuel injection system if you don't want to go with a carb.  The easiest way to go would be tocheck out a junkyard and just try to pull everything off of one vehicle (no front end damage, though).  Donor cars make everything easier.  Hope this helps.
