Ford Repair: 65 ford mustang motor swap, mustang sprint, ford futura

Question
i have a 65 mustang sprint 200 which is a straight 6 with an auto tranny. The head is cracked on that motor. I also have a 82 ford futura with a straight 6 with an auto tranny. What are the chances i'd be able to swap out the motor from the futura into the mustang without changing the transmision also? I've been all over the internet and haven't found out a thing, your help would be greatly appreciated.thank you for your time.

Answer
Erik-

Well...I guess it depends mostly on what kind of motor/transmission combo is in the Futura.  I'm going to guess that since you've got a 200 I6 motor in the Mustang that you've also got the 3 speed "Cruise-o-Matic".  I'm fairly sure the 200 motor didn't live much longer than the 60's so that may create issues when swapping.  What you'll need to concern yourself with it how the motor mounts match up with both engines and how the bellhousing patterns look on both motors.  I'm a little skeptical that it would work as a direct swap, but who knows?  Hope this helps.
