Ford Repair: 1982 Ford Bronco Fuel Pump, electric fuel pump, ford bronco

Question
My son bought an 82 Bronco, 4WD, 351 Windsor V8.  He has had nothing but problems.  Latest issue is with Fuel Pump.  There is not enough pressure to get the gas up into the carb.  My brother suggested an electric fuel pump.  Think this will help problem?  If so, what should PSI be?  Thanks!

Well...an electric pump certainly couldn't hurt.  The main problem will be finding a place to mount it and splicing it into the car's electrical system.  But both of those should be a breeze for any decent mechanic.  The most important thing to remember is that most electric pumps are made for fuel injected cars and therefore run at much higher pressure than a carb'ed motor would need.  There are pumps made specifically for carb'ed motors...Holley comes to mind right away as far as manufacturers.  Just make sure the pump doesn't go over 9psi or so.  I think Holley makes a 7psi pump which would be perfect for that application.  Hope this helps.
