Ford Repair: Rear Brakes, explorer eddie bauer, rear rotors

Question
I have recently purchased two new rear rotors and new brakes for my 1995 explorer eddie bauer 4dr 4x4. I noticed that my emergency brakes on the back were fried also, i was given a estimate of anywhere from 300-400 $ to fix my emergency brake problem, is it worth it to pay that much to have it fixed? Will i need it that bad?

They said they would hafto dis-assemble the rear axel to fix it, is that true?

Answer
Hi Alex,
If the shoes are completely gone, they should be replaced. I would get a second opinion on the cost. Shouldn't be more than $200. If you have the rotor off, you could replace them yourself. You don't need to remove the axle to replace shoes! Try another mechanic.
GOOD LUCK!

Jeff
