Ford Repair: brakes, ford focus, brake pads

Question
I took my ford focus o1 to the garage for an mot and was told that my front brake pads and discs needed changing I took it to another garage a week earlier and was told that my brake pads were fine for a few hundred miles I thought that discs only needed renewing if the pads wore down to much please help

Answer
Jane-

It's can be a good idea to have the rotors turned every time you replace your pads (especially if you're like me and you beat on the car a bit), but more and more companies are making rotors that can't be turned so you need new ones.  Money making schemes like that usually only exist in Superman movies and it's really pretty absurd to buy new rotors all the time.  I'd say don't do anything if you feel comfortable with the cars braking ability and start planning on a pad change in the next month or so.  My guess is that the rotors will be ok.  Hope this helps.
