Question -
My son has purchased a '90 Ford Probe and just had a $1300 transmission put in it. ( I think it is a 6-cylinder) He drove it for 2-days and since then it has been parked at his apartments for about 2-3 weeks. We couldn't start it & replaced the cables & adapters that hook to the battery since they were freyed. Replaced the main fuse, checked all other fuses including the brake fuse. He noticed a cylinder was bad & changed that too, however, we can not get the car out of gear. Is there a reset button somewhere to unlock the gearshift?

Thanks for helping a "divorced mom" be "dad" too!

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Silly question.....do the brake lights work? If they don't check the brake pedal switch. The switch also provides power to the interlock solenoid to release the shifter. There should be a insert for the key that you should be able to put the key in and start the car in neutral and drive it.

the brake pedal switch is located on the upper section of the brake pedal, under the dash board near the floor. The key insert should be (IF there is one) located on the center console near the shifter.
