Ford Repair: 99 Windstar starting problems, ford windstar, field coil

Good morning Erik,
I have (2) questions

1. I have a 99 Ford Windstar 3.0 liter, automatic, mileage 35K. Recently on occassion when I try to start the engine it turns over, but does not start (this has happened approx 4-5 times). I turn the key back and try it again and starts right up. The engine run great and I've had not lights, check engine etc come on.

2. Since I bought the vehicle new in 99 when I turn on the AC it make a grinding sound like something is being engaged. The AC works fine

I would appreciate any insight you may have to these questions.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you look at the over all tune up condition of the engine........does it need one? Also, check the fuel pressure.
As far as the AC goes.....have the field coil checked out.....it sounds like it might be bad.
