Ford Repair: airbag light, ford explorer sport, haynes repair manual

Question
I had just bought an automatic 99 Ford Explorer Sport with a 4.0 SOHC V6 a week ago. The airbag light came on and I didn't think much about it at first. The light flashes 3 times, pauses, and then flashes 7 times. I bought a Haynes repair manual and it states that this is a code 37. I tried calling a local dealer to find out what this code meant, and they said they can't tell me what this means because it's a safety feature. I'm not saying i'm going to do all of the work myself, but I would like to know what I'm getting into. Anything you can help me out with will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Code 37 indicates several possible malfunctions:
Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit.....

Shorted to battery or ignition
Resistance high
Shorted to ground
Resistance low

this is really something for the pro's to deal with.
