Ford Repair: 1992 Explorer thermostat, ford explorer 4x4, coolant leaks

Question
Where is the thermostat on my 1992 Ford Explorer 4X4 with a 4.0 efi engine.  Is it hard to replace a home?  I have been seeing the check gauge light coming on periodically and noticed the heat gauge running hot and I suspect the thermostat is sticking.
Thanks Don
