Ford Repair: Core (freeze) Plugs, drilling holes, freeze plugs

Question

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
There are several ways of removing them. Both you have mentioned work. The one thing you have to be VERY careful of is NOT to damage the wall of the plug hole. If it gets scored/cracked/pitted/damaged........junk the block and buy a new engine....it will never seal. The typical freeze plug is a press fit. Once installed correctly.....sheer force holds it in place.
