Ford Repair: 1995 Ford Windstar 3.8 V6, mass air flow sensor, air flow sensor

Question
Dear Sir,
My idle speed only occasionally wavers up and down. And there is NO Check Engine light flashing on. A mechanic told me that he usually cleans the "mass air flow sensor" for these Windstars, and this often fixes the idle problem. Car has 125,000 miles on it.

Thanks-joe

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
What I would suggest is that you take a look at the basic tune up condition of the engine. Also, even though the check engine light isn't on....a computer scan wouldn't hurt. Ford does not reccomend the cleaning of their MAF sensors. Also, clean the throttle body (Ford doesn't want you to do that either)
