Ford Repair: 1995 Ford COntour Overheat, ford contour, car guy

Question
cooling fan working just fine.....

took it to my mechanic this morning he put the computer on it and did what he called a keys on engine off test .... and the computer started up the fans no problem....  computer reads ... temp in normal..... but as well my mechaninc couldn't reproduce the overheat issue (made me feel silly)  He sugested that if it's still an issue by monday we should do the sensor... what do you think???

Hello,
I just got a 95 ford contour. I bought it from a friend who is a "car guy" so I know all the things he's done for it .....   oil change every 3000, plugs and wires every 10 ... he's pretty good with his car and this car was treated really well.... anyway here's my problem:

The car is overheating....  The water pump was replaced at 70k (it is at 105K now) new radiator at 90k, I just had a new thermostat put in yesterday .... and it still is over heating ....
seems to go just up to the end of the normal zone .... when my friend had it, he said that it did this and would go down after going up...  which is why he suggested I change the thermostat..  but it's still getting hot since I replaced the thermostat  and no doesn't seem to be going back down .... I havn't run it long enought to see if it would toatally overheat ...

any thoughts???

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Start and run the car at idle. Then see IF the cooling fan is coming on. If it's not..there's your problem.

I would be hesitant to replace a sensor on a guess. See if you can reproduce the problem for him. Also, remember NEW does NOT mean good. You might want to try a different thermostat, before monday.
