Ford Repair: Escort AC controller, electrical diagram, ford escort

Question
Dear Erik,
I have a 98 Ford Escort SE and I love it. The AC stopped working last month so I sent it to a garage to have it checked. The mechanics told me that a relay that controls the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced. The expense for such a replacement is very high (total $400). Since I don't have the budget for it, I am thinking about fixing it myself. I have been working on building controllers for years and understand the electrical diagram. However, I could not locate the controller. Do you have any comments about where to find the controller and whether it is doable for myself to replace the relay?
Thank you very much!

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
The Constant Control Relay Module is located at the LH front of the engine.
As far as IF you can repair it....I can't see why not. Just remember that this module also controls the fuel pump and cooling fan for the engine.
Hope this helps,
Erik
