Ford Repair: 2000 f-350, camshaft position sensor, fuel pressure gauge

Question
i have a 2000 f-350 with the 6.8 liter v-10. it has 81000 miles and up to now i have had no problems. the other day my brother in law was delivering a car to the shredder and upon returning he slowed down to turn into the driveway when the truck died just like turning off the key. it still will not start. i have changed the crankshaft position sensor. the camshaft position sensor, fuel filter and spark plugs. it tries to start occaisionally but instead just backfires. my scanner shows no codes. i am about to give up.the plugs were wet with fuel, and there seems to be a lot of fuel in the plenum. i do not have a fuel pressure gauge for fuel injection, but seem to have plenty of fuel pressure. any suggestions? thanks for you're time.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Since there aren't any codes stored in memory.....it is most likely something mechanical (fuel pump). I would suggest that you rent a FI pressure gauge and test the fuel system. Even low pressure can cause serious running problems.
Hope this helps,
Erik
