Ford Repair: 94 Ford Taurus, ford taurus, sensor device

Hi!  I have a 94 Taurus with approx. 138 thousand miles on it.
I need to take this car on a trip which is about 500 miles round trip.
I had a problem with battery line coming on and off , took it to a mechanic and was told it was sensor device in alternator and not to worry about it. I also have this rattling from under the car,seems to come from under drivers seat or about . I looked under and could see nothing loose, I can now smell gas.  Would it be safe to drive this car. I am limited on money and time.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
With out seeing the car I can't and won't say IF it is safe to drive. I would suggest that you bring it to a different garage and have them look it over.....at any cost. Your safety and that of your passengers is worth it....isn't it?
