2000 Ford explorer.  Electric driver side mirror was broken.  How do I replace it.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Since your vehicle has air bag deployment sensors in the door...I would strongly suggest that you bring it to a garage and let them repair it. A false move or unplanned move on your part could set the air bags off, causing you harm.

Thank you for responding so fast.  My 2000 Ford Explorer is an XLT Suv 4WD.  I do not have side air bags.  I have "Driver Side Air Bags" and Passenger Side Air Bags".  Are the sensors in the door for these air bags?
I do not want to injure myself but I would like to save the repair costs.  The part is approximately $90.00.  I am sure if I take it somewhere for repair it will cost me at least $300.  Is there anyway to shut off the sensors.  I am willing to follow you advice.  Thanks again.

The time listed for mirror replacement is .7 hrs + the cost of the part. I would strongly suggest that you let a garage repair it. The crash sensors are located in the doors and a false move by you could set the air bags off.
