1996 Ford Ranger XL - Standard - Four cylinder - Stepside

The problem that I am having is that I cannot shift into any of my gears with my clutch fully depressed.  When I try to shift into reverse it scrapes.  If I start the truck in gear, then I can move, but I cannot shift.  It is not making any funny noises, or anything like that.  It just..won't go into gear.  If you need any more information to answer this question please ask me. Thank you so much!

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Sounds like you need to have the clutch replaced.

I talked to a friends dad who works with vehicles and he mentioned something about a clutch rod that could have fallen out of adjustment.  If this is the case, is it something that I could readjust myself?  thankyou.

Answer
the clutch rod almost NEVER goes out of adjustment .....unless some one has fooled around with it. He is talking about the rod that connects from the pedal asym to the clutch master cylinder. Yes, there is and adjustment procedure, but IF the lock nut isn't loose, it isn't out of adjustment. Check to see if it has loosened up.
