Ford Repair: 1996 Ford Taurus Problem, ford taurus gl, ford taurus

Hello,

  I just bought a 1996 Ford Taurus GL with the 3.0L engine. I just took it for a drive, and noticed under acceleration going up hills, it makes a thud/clunk sound only 2-3 times and it causes vibration. It would be like the transmission shifting ruffly into drive from park, yet this is at 50-55 MPH. What do you think this might be? The ATF is right on full. I tried driving it in circle 8's but no sounds there either. Thank you very much for any help at all. ---Seth

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I've checked the TSB's and don't know of any other thing other then the transmission that would caue this. I would suggest that you bring it to a shop and have them take the pan off and inspect it.
