I have a '99 Ford Expedition w/4.6L Engine. It has a high pitched squeal near the left rear tire. It is not constant, it occurs approx 30 seconds at a time. It is not consistent one trip it happens and the next nothing. It seems to be in the region of the fuel pump could it squeal and not affect performance? When this occurs I get no rough idle or change in performance. Could it be an overpressurization?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
With out hearing the noise, I can't say what it is. What I suggest you do is take a look at the brakes. See if there is a stone lodged in them, or if the brake indicator is hitting the rotor.
Hope this helps,
Erik

Follow up
The noise can be heard when stopped as well as when the vehicle is in motion.

Hello and thanks for the reply...I'll try to help.
There are only a few things that are "moving" when the vehicle isn't in motion.
1. Fuel pump is energized
2. Exhaust has pressure in it.
3. Engine is running
4. Transmission is in gear
I would suggest that you go under the vehicle and isolate the noise.
