Ford Repair: Break Work, ford aerostar van, ford aerostar

Question
I own a 1995 Ford Aerostar Van (3.0 Litre V6)
Automatic Transmission

The van requires the following work to be done:

Break wheel cylinder replace (leaking driver side) rear left and rear right

Ball Joint Replace (both upper)

Clean and adjust Disc or drum brakes.

They have given me an estimate of 5 hours (75.00 per hour) Parts Total 201.57
The bill will be about 600.00
Will the work take this long and are the costs  high? Thank You for your opinion

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I won't comment on parts cost-that is up to the discretion of the shop own and the parts store he or she deals with.
As far as the labor goes, my book lists out as follows:
wheel cylinders: 3.2 hrs
Ball joint (upper) replace: 4.6 hrs
clean and adjust Disc/Drum brakes: .5 hr
So the total is 8.3 hrs ..........this is IF the shop is a flat rate shop..........otherwise I couldn't tell you what the owner should charge.
