Ford Repair: fuel tank replacement, time jeff, ford ranger

Hi Erik, I have a 1987 ford ranger regular cab, 108"wb, 2.0L carburated,pick up. I need to replace the fuel tank and I need to find out if I can use the old sending unit and if so do I need to replace the gasket and also can you tell me if I should replace the fuel filter?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I can't see why you wouldn't be able to use the old sending unit. As long as it is in good working condition. As far as the "O" ring seal, that should always be replaced. And, yes.....replace the fuel filter.
