Ford Repair: Radio, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

The radio in my 1999 Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer, AWD, V-8 runs perfectly except for one minor detail, it very rarely will illuminate.  This just started for no reason.  What could be causing this problem and what is the solution?  Thank you.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 It sounds like the tiny light bulb in the face panel has gone out or is in the process of going out. You might want to bring it to the dealership and have them look at it.
