Ford Repair: 94 Mustang V6-232, coolant temperature sensor, coolant temp

Question
Hi,
I bought my mustang a few months ago, and now my engine light is on, the temp gauge says the car is overheating but its not. the engine light is for an O2 sensor on the heater circuit, but i don't know where to find it. Im also getting horrible gas milage, and after the car heats up theres a whinning noise. I have put in a new fan, thermastat, and coolant temperature sensor. Its also a 5 speed manual transmission

Thanks

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you look at the tune up condition of the engine and also, replace the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust system. The heated part that the code is talking about is contained within the sensor. As far as the over heating goes.........there should be a single wire sensor for coolant temp in the intake manifold of the engine. Replace that sensor, and you should be all set.
Hope this helps,
Erik
