Ford Repair: 1997 Ford Escort P/S Pump, buck range, professional mechanic

Question
Hi, I have a 1997 Ford Escort, 2.0l engine. Its a manual transmission.(124000m) I recently lost power steering on the freeway. I broke my alternator belt so I replaced that and while doing so I noticed what is apparently my power steering pump is broken. When I turn it back on it sounds like the engine is misfiring but it is coming from below the alternator. It makes a horrible clacking noise. Im not exactly sure what I need to do, I cant take it in, as I am broke, so I have to fix it myself. What components do I need to fix this? Do I need the reservoir or just the pump itself? What repair manual would you suggest I purchase to fix this myself? Also, about how much do you think this should cost me? I have priced the part, (the pump itself) at 60-100 dollars is this correct? How long should it take? Sorry for the multiple questions, I just want to be as accurate as possible when fixing this. Thank you!

As far as the price goes.......it all depends on the brand of pump, and where you buy it. I would say that the 60-100 buck range is a good deal.
The time it takes is about 2 hours, but this is for a professional mechanic, not a do it "yourselfer".
Hope this helps,
Erik
