Ford Repair: Ford Engine Timing, vibration damper, vacuum lines

Question
Can you confirm that the triangle shaped pointer is the index you use to check engine basic timing with a timing light.  I am using the side that is straight across the vibration damper.

I have a 1993 Ford F150 with the 5.0 l V-8.  I have disconnected the SPOUT connector.  The engine is fuel injected so idle speed is not adjustable.  There are no vacuum lines on the distributor.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
The correct timing is 10* BTDC -----the indicator for the mark is the piece that sticks off of the front cover on the passenger side of the engine. You might have to use sand paper to clean off the balencer to see the timing marks.
Hope this helps,
Erik
