Hello Erik,

I have a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 and it has a little over a 110,000 miles on it.  When I am sitting idle, in drive, I'm getting a lot of vibration that normally a small car would not get as much of.  Also, I've had to pump the gas a few times to get it to start, allthough it is very rare that that has happened.  I thought maybe it was a fuel problem so I went and had the fuel filter changed, not too much difference.  I'm getting ready to buy a fuel pump, but I would like to do more research before I go and purchase one.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I would like to know IF the vehicle has had a recent tune up and also, if the timing belt has ever been changed? If not......I would start there. Also, before just going out and replacing the fuel pump.......check the fuel pressure.
