Ford Repair: ford escort tdx L reg, diesel pump, ford escort

Hello...i have a escort tdx 1.8 L reg ford escort 5 door turbo diesel.for some reason my car has suddenly reving off the clock for no reason,it has done this 4 times in the last week.it doesnt matter if yer doing 10 mph or 60 mph, it just does it on its own.im told its something inside the diesel pump..??? can you help please...im not driving it at present as im afraid it will blow the engine...! thanks dazzer.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I would think it would be the govenor rather than the injection pump. The only thing that can be changed is the injector timing..........so that isn't it. What I would suggest is that you have the vehicle's computer system checked for fault codes and go from there.
