Ford Repair: ball joints and u-joints, auto hubs, bolt carrier

Question
1993 Explorer 4x4 automatic auto hubs dana 35
Two questions:
1) I'm following haynes manual for removing ball joints. They say after removing top circlip and loosening bottom nut to top of thread, to bang on knuckle with hammer to separated ball joint threads from knuckle, then remove knuckle and press out ball joints on bench. I've banged and banged and the joints are loose but nothing is coming off anywhere. What is the trick for getting knucle off of car? Do I have to take the camber adjuster off first?

2)I have bad u-joint right axle outer shaft. Manual says to press out bearings in vice. Joint I got from parts store has caps and rubber seals each and doesn't look like it can be pressed apart. Looks like it would work with u-bolt carrier. Thanks for any tips.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Use this link for ball joints:

Also, on the top joint, make sure you remove the caster/camber shim, and also the lock bolt(if there is one.)

As far as the dirve shaft ujoint, use this link:

When you have the half shaft in a vice look at the inside of the Ujoin---you should find 4 C clips that hold the Ujoint in place, knock them out and then take the Ujoint out as normal.

Hope this helps,
