Ford Repair: Ford EEC, ford eec, ford place

Question
Eric, while trying to fix a starting problem on my 1991 motor home with a Ford 460 FI engine and C6 trans, the EEC (computer) was swapped and the origional one turned in as a core to Ford. The problem was the EEC relay instead. The replacement computer is the wrong one as it looks for a mass airflo Sensor and an electronic transmission  I don't have either one on my motor home. The timing is also severely retarted. The vin number won't help as it is an Oshkosh vin number and is of no use to Ford. The ford place found one for a Econoline 350 with a 460 engine and it will be in next week.My question is: does the computer only control the engine if the trans is not electric (plain C-6 without overdrive) and will the computer for any 1991 460 with the same trans work, If not how com I find a computer that will work? with the computer the Motor home is worthless. Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Pat

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you ask the Ford parts people, I'm a mechanic. You also MIGHT want to look in to an after market store for a replacement pcm.
This would of been avoided, if the problem was correctly diagnosed the first time.
Sorry I can't help,
Erik
