Ford Repair: 96 Ford Windstar, door latch, car dings

I have asked several people this same question and no one has been able to help me thus far.  I have a 96 Ford Windstar, 3.8 liter, Automatic.  I just Spent $1,000 on the moter and can't afford to send the van in to be look at.  I can't find a door adjar switch on the drivers side door.  The door does not register when it is shut.  The dome light stays on, The door adjar light on the instrument panel is lit, and when the head lights are on the car dings.  Every once in a while it will start working and then it stops working.  I have tried cleanig out the door latch, reseting the computer, and I hvae tried wiggiling the wires and conecters.  I don't know what else to do.  Thanks.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I believe that the door latch switch is located IN the door latch asymbly. You'll need to remove the door panel and then the latch. Bench test the switch with an Ohm meter.
