Ford Repair: tires for 2001 stock lightning, goodyear eagle f1, nittos

Question
steve,

just trying to find someone out there with experience on lightning tires. i hate the goodyear eagle f1's on there. i see nitto has nt555's that would do the trick. have you heard any pro/cons on these tires? i really don't race my truck, so i want a tire that will last. any help you can offer would be appreciated. thanx,

rick

Answer
Rick-

I'd say the Nittos are a good bet.  They're a bit softer than regular truck tires which means they'll handle better, but they'll also wear a bit faster.  The regular 555s offer a pretty good balance between wear and handling, but if long life is your primary concern, you might consider something off the shelf from a place like Sears or NTB.  They won't handle or hook as well as the Nittos, but they'll last a little longer.  Hope this helps.
