Ford Repair: tauras s h o, fuel pressure gage, fault description

Question
hi, i have a 1994 SHO..IT HAS THE 3.2 6 CYLINDER,W/140,000 MILES it started hesitating one day and missing a little...so i replaced the air &gas filter, then i bought some injector cleaner,it didnt help, when i floored the car it took off fine, so i took it to a good mechanic,he put it on the computer and all kinds of stuff came up,first was the EGR valve, so i replaced that, still it hesitated,so the meckanic said to leave it with him for 1 week. i was going to take it there and then it quit running, and now it wont start at all,so then i replaced the coil pac...still it wont start....do you think it could be the computer?   i bought another motor on e-bay with 100,000 miles on it, but i dont think its the engine its self, cause when it was running and i floored it it ran perfect, with plenty of power,   thanks   Joseph

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Before you go off the deep end and start replacing parts on a whim, rent a scan tool and also a fuel pressure gage from your local parts store.
Also, check you timing belt to make sure it hasn't snapped or lost teeth.
When using a scan tool----just because a code is present, it does NOT mean to replace the part that is indicated in the fault description. It is just a starting point to begin a test procedure.
Check for fuel pressure, and consult a tech manual for specifications.
Hope this helps,
Erik
