Ford Repair: Trunk latch, latch pin, screw driver

1994 Ford Aspire, standard
I cannot get the trunk latch to lock.  No matter how gently or hard I close the trunk, the latch will not lock.  Is there anything I can adjust/fix so I can close my trunk and be able to safely drive my car?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 What I would suggest you do is see if the striker is in the closed position in the trunk lid. Meaning, that the latch is like it locked already.......If it is, use the key to unlock it. If it is in the open position, use a screw driver blade to act as the latch pin and try to latch is closed. You also might want to lubricate the latch with WD40 or some other lubricant.
