Ford Repair: 1993 Ford Ranger manual transmission, ford ranger, junk yard

The truck has a 4.0L V-6. Have a Mazda M5R1 transmission. It still runs through the gears but there's a lot of slop in it. My son's been hogging it changing gears. Took the shifter out of the socket and was wondering if there's any way to tighten it up. .

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 Does the ball on the end of the shifter look like it's been beaten? You might have to just replace the shifter asym. I would suggest that you go to a junk yard and see if they would be able to locate one for you.
