The water temperature gauge stopped reading , and the Ford Explorer smells like water boiling. But  water is fine.  The gauge is making noise as if it works,  fuses are fine.  Could this be a electical problem?  And what should be done?

Hello and thanks for the reply...I'll try to help.
I haven't heard of a common problem like this with the Explorer's, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem there.
Have you checked the antifreeze level? Also, is there a sweet smell from inside the vehicle?
Thanks,
Erik

Since you have indicated that there is a "smell" to the inside of the vehicle, check the floor on the passenger side front area, under the dashboard. Is it wet? If it is, or the smell is stronger there, you have a leaking heater core. If not, I would suggest that you bring it in to a garage and have it looked over for this problem.
Hope this helps,
Erik
