Ford Repair: Ignition Coils (F-150-2000) 5.4 L V8, ford products, oem quality

Question
Hello,

I have a 100K miles on my F-150 (2000) and I have had 2 ignition coils go out on me in the last two months.  The dealer recommeds replacing all of them for $1400.00 becuase they indicate they usuallu go out about the same time. Is this something I can do myself?  It appears that it can be asy or is there something I should know?  ALso, they want $124 for each ignition coil.  Can I get these cheaper at a automotive parts store and if so what model is best?

Thanks

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
They are pretty straight forward. One coil per cylinder, one bolt (if I remember correctly) per coil.
I wouldn't suggest that you go out side of Ford products. Yes, there are other after market replacement parts, but none that I have used meet the OEM quality and fit, they always seem to be just a little off or different.
Hope this helps,
Erik
