Ford Repair: door ajar warning light on dash, penetrating oil, warning light

Question
My vehicle is a 1998 Taurus sedan. With all the doors closed, the light on the dash stays on showing all the doors open.  Where should I start looking?

This is a common problem. All of the door-ajar switches are in the latches. Try lubing all of the door latches with a good penetrating oil (not WD40), open and close the doors a few times. This should loosen the switches. If this doesn't fix the problem, a switch may be bad and the Dealer can test the system and tell which switch it is.
